4 Spiritual Lessons for Finding a Path Through Loneliness

dcole8.1.21

As human beings we are all vulnerable to loneliness, especially during periods of grief. We want to feel safe, protected, and not alone, yet a sense of loneliness is quite easy for us to access. We may feel alone in our bodies, in our homes, or alone in the world. So how do we find our way through loneliness?

In my work as a teacher and spirit translator, I came to realize that in order to move through my own loneliness, I had to acquire a deep understanding of the pain that other people go through. It might seem as though connecting with other people’s pain would intensify my own, but on the contrary, it helped me to release my loneliness. Calling An Angel

Calling an angel An Excerpt from From Spirit Translator: Seven Truths for Creating Well-Being and Connecting with Spirit

I  have received several messages from spirit during my life that were, at the time, “too unbelievable” for the logical mind, as spirit described earlier. It’s clear to me now that I needed tangible proof to penetrate through the walls I had put up around me, mostly in an attempt to protect myself from my own psychic sensitivities. One of the most memorable displays of spirit giving me a sign happened during the time I lived in Los Angeles in my twenties.

I had a good friend at the time named Tawny who invited me to lunch one day. We met downtown, and before our salads had even arrived at the table she told me that she thought she saw an angel and had to talk about it.

“I’ve been reading about angels. Did you know that they’re able to come to us in human form? They can help us when we need it, but we have to ask for their help,” Tawny stated matter-of-factly.

To be honest, I thought this was far-fetched, but I listened. She went on to tell me how she had been in a crowded elevator, at her workplace, with a man who had the face of an angel. The mysterious man smiled at her, and she felt warm in a way that she had not felt before. This was proof to her that there was truth to what she had read. Tawny wasn’t the most spiritual person I knew, so I was particularly intrigued. Frankly, I think I was a little jealous. Why had I not seen angels? As I was driving home from work that day, I said out loud, “Show me an angel. I want to see an angel appear.”

Summon Self-Compassion

positivethoughts

We are suffering more than we are meant to. Chronic stress. Loneliness. Isolation. Anxiety. Depression. We are overwhelmed by pain because we’re alienated from the basic understanding of who we truly are. What if we recognized that we are made of infinite energy emanating from a source of unimaginable creative power? Suffering wouldn’t linger as much as we allow it to now.

Here are three suggestions on how to become a positive thought warrior.

Mindset Shifts to Summon Self-Compassion

  1. Become aware of your self-talk.
