Sibling Rivalry

Renee-Singh-Sibling-Rivalry-cover

Sibling rivalry wouldn’t exist if only parents knew how to handle children better.

A whole lot of us carry the burden of sibling rivalry.  No matter how old we get, we still suffer from the effects of ‘Mom and Dad always loved you more’. Much of our adult behaviour is coloured by this aspect which seems to colour our relationships with our siblings.

Coping with sibling rivalry could be very stressful, we all seem to face it somewhere and sometime in our lives. It actually needs to be dealt with in childhood so that it doesn’t surface in our relationships in adulthood.  If left undealt it creates major family disputes and unpleasantness in the closest of relationships leading to immense stress.

Accept your reality

You as an adult can cope with your issues if in your childhood you were taught how to manage your sibling relationships consciously. Relate to your own inner self. Try and be a good parent to your kids.

Today I will discuss how to handle sibling rivalry in children so that we consciously raise stress-free children who will further turn into well adjusted humans with comparatively low level of stress in a new zone of living.

Parenting consciously

This is most essential.  If parents are consciously monitoring their kids and making an effort in consistently bonding them in a mutually loving relationship, it creates great harmony.

Causes of conflict

Most of the time it is the competition for the favour of the parents who need to understand that comparing two kids is the worst possible way of creating a love culture. Never ever promote competition between children.  In this way they learn to resent each other.

Stress Buster: Harp On

renee-singh-stress-busters-harp-on
Music can come in handy in dealing with life from a positive perspective.

Whenever we listen to good music, it changes our zone. Music is one of the healthiest stress relief measures as it transports us into a different state of emotions according to its nuances. Music affects our minds and bodies in so many different ways and we need to realise and understand that it can be used as an effective stress management vehicle.

Physical relaxation

Music actually promotes relaxation of tense muscles enabling you to release tension from a stressful day or week. Relaxing your body while listening to music helps release tension in a fun way and puts one in a stress-free zone. Harp on

Music & meditation

For those who feel meditation is tough to get into, listening to music is an excellent way to relax and slowly get lured into the meditative state.

Music promotes positivity

Upbeat lives are happy lives. Even if you are not in a good mood you feel obliged to switch mental channels and feel better.

Return to the Joyful Living of Childhood

renee-singh-return-to-the-joyful-living-of-childhood
Now that we are stepping into the second month of the year,I feel all of us are more relaxed about our performance through the year. The initial euphoria of the new year year and it's newer resolutions is sort of settled into a routine. And yet at the back of our minds lurks this constant need to perform in a manner that leads us to a stress free life.

Happiness is the motivational goal which remains a constant obsession as it should.  Our main purpose on this planet is joy and inching towards it everyday is our essential need and desire.

Over the years as we allow stress to take a toll on our lives, we seem to have stopped living in our natural state which is joy. As children while we were growing up, joyful living was a natural part of our lives and we didn't have to consciously think about it. So now perhaps we should just switch on our childhood mode to reach that sense of emotional level of comfort and joy.

Go into your childhood and connect to the child within you. Think about how relaxed you were and how your thought patterns worked when you were living in those blissful times. Connect backwards in time and live those days .

Adult stress relief strategies seem so much simpler and more effective when we link them to our past happy experiences.

A Plan for Managing Stress

Renee-Singh-A-plan-for-managing-stress
People have a tendency to overlook their stress. Every few days I like to write about the benefits of an overall plan for managing stress as I do realise the importance of it from my personal counselling sessions with my clients.

From time to time we need to address the concept of stress management within us. It is not a one time strategy you apply, its an ongoing process you need to keep track of. It is important that you should have an overall plan for managing your stress and not allow your stress levels to rise high before you start handling them.

I feel the need to talk about the avaliable recourses for handling most of the stressful situation's . The smart thing is to combat our own stressful personal scenarios with the recourses available to us.

Most of the time we remain abreast our stressful situation when we keep ourselves on a higher level of awareness and conciousness. It is only when you deal with stress in less than healthy ways that you compound the negative impacts of stress on your health.

It can be that your responses to stress make the challenges you feel, more challenging .

Maintaining Balance

This is the most important aspect of stress management.  We need to create a lifestyle in sync with our values, a schedule to create health promoting habits. We need to understand how to deal with the negatives life metes us on the platter and move our perspective according to our challenges.

Yet many a time we realise that despite all our efforts stress is throwing us off balance.

We need to realise that life does not always turn the way we plan and "true balance " is not a continuous state. There could be many factors that throw things off the scheduled path.

Tips to Keep You on Your Path to Happiness

renee-singh-tips-to-keep-you-on-your-path-to-happiness
As we are well on our way into the New Year, our new hopes and aspirations seem firmly entrenched within our system and we seem to be on our way to a new beginning or at least a face lift to our old selves. Each year there are many resolves we make and yet slowly, they all melt down to the common potpourri of whatever is our normal daily life. No matter how hard we try to remain steadfast in our daily resolves, the moving Sands of time make it all wither away.

To keep oneself duly on the path ,one needs resilience and commitment.  This has to come from within. We constantly need to work on ourselves to keep us there on our committed path towards health and happiness. I am trying to facilitate my readers to stay on the path by using a few tips I have gathered over the years through intense research. Of course we all desire to wish it all away but we need to work our way to happiness.

Wishful Thinking

Most of us wish we could wave a magic wand and wish all our stressors away. What a blissful feeling to live in joy and harmony by just wishful thinking.

But practical reality tells us that no matter how much we wish our thoughts away, they don't go. We need to create practical ways and means of dealing with them. We need to know how to turn our thoughts around so that we can use them to our advantage

Relaxing Space

Our foremost thing is to have a relaxed physical space. Create it at home if possible. Your own spot where your level of comfort is the highest. When you are here your mind and body just step into a relaxed mode.

A Warm Bath

You could turn your bathroom to a spa like environment.  Visualise it like a spa scenario.  A hot bath always de stresses you. So create your own space.

Choose from Your Own Happy Habits

We all have our comfort zone's over the years that kept us going on the happiness path.Pick up on a few things which kept you the happiest and put them into your mental framework, use those now in your daily functioning.

Short Power Naps

Whenever fatigue sets in just take that 10 minutes nap that refreshes you and rejuvenate's your system. This is your "on your marks get set go" strategy.

renee-singh-make-me-happy

We are stepping into a New Year. Focusing on Happiness and Joy must be our priority.

Many people feel overwhelmed by the circumstances in their lives. Most of them get irritable with the constant demands on them. There are many things in life that will create an experience of happiness for all of us despite our individual differences. Maybe the things that make you happy are different from the things that make me happy, but then so what.

For most of us there are good days and bad days. The smart thing is to know how to shake off a bad day.

A New Years resolve for everyone I would recommend should be to not allow any of these bad days to overwhelm them and actually know how to shake it off.

We may know how to control a few stressors but to be able to take the edge off the stressors is vital. Even while we are working at trying to control them it is vital.

I will throw light on some "Make me Happy" tips for you.

New beginnings and new resolutions - Stress Free!

New beginnings and new resolutions - Stress Free!
As the year is coming to a close,we feel once more the need for new beginnings and new resolutions. Each year we are excited when the new year is about to begin and we resolve to do a zillion new things, and yet slowly we allow stress to seep into our system and create a niche within us. It is actually our foremost duty to rid ourselves of this perturbing factor and lead ourselves to a healthy, happy and harmonious life.

Stress is a highly subjective experience.  It of course occurs in individuals when the perceived demands of their situation overwhelms their capacity to handle it. Since we are each one of us unique in our own way,we respond according to our own unique disposition.

I feel it is imperative for me to give my readers a general direction to feel a level of happiness and balance so that they can facilitate their own journey towards joy in a happy manner.
