Do You Want Financial Freedom?

Do You Want Financial Freedom?

Financial freedom is something that I am incredibly passionate about talking about because it isn’t just a reflection of your money. Financial freedom or what I call ‘Real Wealth’, is a profound sense of freedom in all areas of your life; your money, your health, your relationships and your career. It allows you to become more flexible and nimble and most importantly, it provides the power of choice. It paves the pathway for ultimate financial independence. It doesn’t have to be a luxury only reserved for the lucky few, and is something each and every one of us has the ability to create. Today. I’m going to share my tips on how to achieve financial freedom.

Start small

You might be thinking that financial freedom is something that is out of the question to you if your current financial reality isn’t where you would like it to be. I understand that it can feel overwhelming, but the very first part is to break things down.

Most importantly, you have to be willing to accept your current financial reality, whilst then shifting your mindset to one of expansion and being open to the possibilities. This is then where energetically, you begin to see your finances through a fresh new lens and assess what small changes can be made. It’s these micro changes that when implemented consistently, make the biggest difference!

An exercise I encourage you to do, is to write out and fully break down your cash flow and expenses - this would be your utility bills, rent or mortgage, cell phone bill, subscriptions, groceries, travel costs and so on. Break these down monthly, weekly and daily and leave no stone unturned. Once you have a clearer picture written down, you can quickly start to identify where tweaks and changes can be made. I encourage you to look at these expenses and tune in. Consider which things truly bring you joy or value in your life and which could actually be reduced or even eliminated?

Next, do the same with your debts. Could any be reduced to 0% interest for the next 18 months? Don’t be afraid to call your bank and discuss it with them. It’s in their interest to retain their customers and you will often find that a conversation is all it takes to achieve a good outcome! The very act of calling your bank is a way to uplevel your financial literacy and knowledge, which when asking yourself how to achieve financial independence, is a key element and one that is incredibly empowering when you build that muscle!

Set yourself free from debt instruments

Becoming your own bank is the ultimate way to achieve financial independence. Why? Because it means you don’t have to rely on debt instruments. You’re activating the energy of abundance, whilst also bringing in your financial smarts to have money there for your financial present and future available, even in the most unexpected of circumstances.

This is why writing down your debts is helpful because you know exactly what you’re working towards paying off. Once one debt is paid, the key is to not restart the debt cycle. Funnel that same amount of money you paid towards the previous debt into one of your financial intentions.

Something I often see is relying on debt instruments as a way to ‘keep up’ or to fulfil expectations imposed upon us by those close to us. These are what I call
‘crabs in your bucket’. Whilst we all have to take ownership and responsibility for our choices, I do understand the pressure you might feel if this resonates with you. I even see it in companies where employees are encouraged to pay for something on their credit card and then don’t get reimbursed until weeks later. Or, maybe you have friends who have had celebrations where being involved has meant spending beyond your means. Perhaps your parents have encouraged you to make a financial choice that wasn’t actually aligned with what you truly want?

All of these examples lead us to turn to debt instruments. But I’m here to empower you to know that you don’t have to do this. You have no obligation to fulfil anyone else’s expectations. By enforcing some boundaries and being crystal clear on your greater goal for financial freedom and your soul ‘why’ behind this goal, you are leading with your heart. You are choosing for yourself. By standing in your power and living in authentic alignment with your financial goal, this is when you’ll be activating the energy of abundance and your life and money will shift in profound ways!

What Does Financial Freedom Truly Mean to You?

Following on from the above, we all have different desires and you might have found that yours differ from your friends, colleagues, parents, grandparents or children. Perhaps what you thought were your desires were actually imposed upon you from your family? When this happens, we tend to block our core, heart desires because of the subconscious need to live this life that other people want for us.

Therefore, debt becomes a distraction. We believe that the bigger house, grander vacations and always being the one who buys the dinners out will create that validation that we’re craving. These cravings typically stem from childhood and the debt we create as adults, is our way of fulfilling these and feeling accepted.

But is this truly making you happy? I encourage you to step outside of your current life for a moment and tap back into your heart. Is the life you are living, one that allows you to live in the full expression of yourself? By turning to debt, what are you trying to emotionally avoid in that moment? By creating this awareness, it makes achieving financial independence a lot simpler than you might have initially thought. It offers you deeper insight into your true, soul being and when you act from this place along with then building your financial literacy, this is when everything will really begin to build momentum for you – and your money, in ways you could never have imagined!
