The Enlightened Rebel: OPEN AT THE TOP

temple12.26.21
The best and most supportive relationship you can ever have with yourself is to allow yourself to live in the flow.

Living in the flow does not eliminate the ability to be a person of commitment. There is always a sense of freedom when you listen to your inner nature and make sure you are honoring yourself. It is important as an Enlightened Rebel to choose relationships in your life which also allow you such freedom. Were you ever expecting a visitor for several days and somehow had a feeling that it wasn’t going to happen?

Or, have you had a sense that the trip you were planning to take just wasn’t meant to be?

Evolving Out Into The Infinite

PDBLog6.3

I feel like we don’t acknowledge what it takes to truly make an impact in the world. And sometimes that’s the people around you, as much as this is an individual journey. This is a journey of awakening and a journey of evolving into who we are, the people around you are necessary as well, because God put them there. And, sometimes it takes a huge amount of vulnerability to realize that actually you wouldn’t do as well without those individuals.

And it’s not that you’re codependent, but it’s just that at some point you have to appreciate who played a part in getting you to where you are, how people contributed the time, how they put in the love, and how they put in the loyalty that they displayed.

I’ve been in this place of reflecting on how much of a role my wife Jan has played in me being who I am today and how, I don’t know who I would be in the absence of her presence in my life.

Make Love’s Higher Purpose Come Alive in Every Relationship

lovely-winter-day-picture-id1155033879

The universe is set up to help us grow into our higher selves, and relationships are the “vessel” of that journeyDifficult relationships show us both the need to grow beyond our present level of understanding, and deliver the vital self-revelations that make growth possible.

Of course, we love to be shown qualities within us that are positive. But Love often shows us what is un-loving within us, such as anger, impatience, and selfishness. To understand this is to realize that even in the darkest moment of some unwanted revelation, we are never without Love; it is always there, even if it is momentarily obscured by our negative reaction to what we’ve been shown about ourselvesThese revelations are a gift from Love to help us become the truly loving individuals we want, and are meant, to be.

Where All Souls Meet

dawid-zawila--G3rw6Y02D0-unsplash Where All Souls Meet

After being born physically, we unfold within a second womb, meant to incubate our better angel. The second womb is an experiential one that, through the labor of a lifetime, births the soul on Earth. This journey opens us to a process of transformation that is mysterious, difficult, and inevitable. This dynamic transformation is how we are revealed and shaped by experience. By living the one life we are given, we release the wisdom that waits in our heart, and that tender, human process leads us to the way under the way, the place of true meeting. When we commit to these holy engagements that join who we are with the world, we discover that the temple is the world.

Eventually, all the love, suffering, and humility we go through wear away our walls of resistance until Spirit shines from within us like an inner sun. This is how Spirit is revealed on Earth—as the coverings we carry are worn away by life, the light we carry can pour into the world.

Mark Nepo's Weekly Reflection: The Quarter Turn

holdingbutterfly Mark Nepo's Weekly Reflection: The Quarter Turn

I suddenly knew I was looking at it from the wrong angle and I gave the cloth in my hand a quarter turn. Immediately I saw a beautiful and coherent golden pattern... In wonder, the pattern had emerged, to be seen in all its beauty by those who could learn to make the quarter turn.

Helen Luke

The above quote is from Helen’s inner autobiography, Such Stuff as Dreams Are Made On. She begins the book with a dream in which one of her oldest friends, now gone, is asked on the other side to weave a tapestry that tells the story of her life. But as Helen looks at the cloth, it makes no sense—until she gives the cloth a quarter turn and the pattern of her friend’s life emerges plainly.

Helen then offers the quarter turn as a synonym for a paradigm shift, as a way to understand those unexpected shifts of perception that return us to the hidden wholeness, the spot of grace, the Oneness that exists beneath all subjects and conclusions. And like the fine-adjustment knob on a telescope or microscope that brings what you’re looking at into focus, the quarter turn is the skill of perception by which you can bring into focus the instrument that is you.

Forget The Destination, The Gold Is The Journey

Forget The Destination, The Gold Is The Journey

The destination means nothing if you don’t appreciate the journey.

Life is a journey, not a destination. You’ve probably heard it before. But, what does it actually mean?

How many times were you asked as a child “What do you want to be when you grow up?”

From an early age you’re thrust into the mind frame of attaining, accomplishing or doing ‘something.’ Trying to be somebody. Wanting to go somewhere. Working hard to make something of your life. You get so focused on what you want to be, where you want to go, or what you want to do that you see where you are – right here, right now – as just a stepping stone; a necessary requirement for your desired result.
