Eating junk isn’t the only cause for weight gain. Other factors that are involved in the process are:

  • Insulin levels: High level of insulin causes excess energy consumption into the fat cells resulting in weight gain.
  • Leptin resistance: Leptin is responsible for reducing the appetite of an individual. Leptin resistance reverses the process and causes weight gain.
  • Genes: Eating behavior of parents affects their genes which will be carried by their children. Therefore, some people are vulnerable to weight gain and obesity.
  • Excess of fructose: Sugar is composed of glucose and fructose. Glucose is the natural sugar of the food compound whereas, fructose is the added sugar. The excess of fructose in the diet causes weight gain.
  • Incorrect information about nutrition and health: Some food companies misinterpret the results of scientific studies to promote their weight loss supplements leading to weight gain or zero results in weight loss.

If this has complicated the whole process of weight loss for you and consulting a doctor is the only option. The following blog will tell you how you can manage these factors in a modest way which will induce weight loss.

Start practicing yoga at home or at a yoga center near your place. Apart from weight loss, yoga has many physical and mental benefits such as emotional stability, improved heart health, enhanced metabolism, and fertility, etc. You can also learn more about it if you enroll for 200-hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh.

Here are a few yoga poses to start practicing weight loss yoga:

  1. Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations): This yoga pose is a sequence of 12 different yoga poses that must be practiced for 12 rounds; initially, you can begin with 4. Practicing Surya Namaskar improves the functioning of the body organs from head to toe. It also balances the three doshas Vata, and Kapha that helps in weight loss.

Besides weight loss, this pose is responsible for effective blood circulation.  This increased blood circulation improves skin as well as hair and also removes toxins from the body. It enhances flexibility, tones up the arms and abs as well as strengthens the skeletal system. It is also helpful in facilitating regular menstrual cycle.

  • Virabhadrasana (Warrior Pose 2): This beginner level yoga pose must be practiced on each leg for at least 30 seconds. Practicing Virabhadrasana and holding it on each leg requires strength and stability. This pose stimulates the abdominal organs which speed up the digestion and results in effective weight loss.

Moreover, it brings awareness about organs inside the body. It stretches the chest, shoulders, lungs, and groins as well as strengthens the legs and ankles. This pose is best suited for those who wish to develop stamina in the body. In fact, it also treats osteoporosis, infertility, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, and flat feet.

  • Trikonasana (Triangle Pose): This pose must be practiced on each leg for 30 seconds with at least 3 repetitions to gain ultimate benefits. Trikonasana massages the abdominal muscles and organs which improves digestion.

This pose stretches the chest, shoulders, spine, calves, hamstrings, groins and strengthens them as well. With regular practice of this pose, one can achieve both physical and mental stability. It also has a therapeutic effect on back and neck pains. Besides, it treats sciatica, prevents osteoporosis and improves fertility. The calming effect of this pose also reduces stress and anxiety.

  • SetuBandhasana (Bridge Pose): This pose is very effective for melting down the fat in the body. All you have to do is hold onto the pose for 30 seconds and stretch it up to 60 seconds. SetuBandhasana stimulates the digestive system which helps in melting away the fat from the entire body.

This pose is beneficial in several ways. It relieves stress and tension trapped inside the body. It increases lung capacity which aids in curing asthma and other respiratory disorders. Practicing this pose religiously lowers stress and anxiety and ensures mental stability. It is beneficial for pregnant women and also lessens menstrual pain and menopause syndrome.

  • Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose): The best approach to perform this pose is to maintain it for 15 to 20 seconds. Bhujangasana excites the digestive organs responsible for managing metabolism which manages weight in the body.

Furthermore, this pose has some significant health benefits such as it strengthens the back and abdominal muscles. It increases the efficiency of the reproductive as well as the urinary system. This pose is a great stress buster and relieves from sciatica and asthma. It also focuses on the four out of seven chakras of the body to channelize the energy. Practice these beginner level yoga poses at least thrice a week with a healthy lifestyle and you will start seeing the results.
