Allow yourself the luxury of extreme Self Care

Many of us take the business of living life very seriously. We are very aware of our responsibilities, and in the process, one fine day, we sort of mentally wake up, to realize and understand, that we have forgotten, to take care of our personal needs. We have forgotten, who we are. That whole persona of ours, has been, by our own free will "brushed under the carpet " as we did not want to handle it, when it surfaced. We think we will handle it, as and when required.

We do not realize, that those are the issues, which have allowed stress to seep into our being, stealthily.

IMPORTANCE OF SELF CARE
We realize suddenly that we are feeling tired on every level. Mentally, emotionally and physically It's only when we wake up to this awareness, depleted in this manner, with a level of exhaustion on a physical and emotional plane, we realize that that we are incapable of handling stress

We then understand that any form of Self care, like a massage, or a hot soak in the bathtub, or any activity that revitalizes us on a mind body level is essential for our extreme well being.

Your Body Wants to Be Your Strongest Ally - Let It

Modern medicine has triumphed on many fronts in conquering diseases and extending life, but its greatest advance is almost totally unsung. Health and longevity have made it possible to see the body as our greatest ally. After centuries of inevitable sickness and early death for the vast majority of people, the human body is poised to become our greatest ally on a new front: consciousness.

If you can step outside the accepted image of your body as a machine, you will discover that it is actually not a separate physical object but united with your mind as one consciousness—call it the bodymind. This step alone rids you of many damaging attitudes. As a thing separate from ourselves, the body is an obsessive source of worry over sickness, aging, and death. Equally obsessive is whether someone’s body is beautiful enough, strong enough, appealing enough to the opposite sex.

Our Personal Wellness Is Reflected In Our World

In the past week I have shared many conversations with people who are seeking advice on how to live life with peace and wellness.  Too many people are experiencing anxiety, chronic illness and general poor health.

A couple days ago I met with one of my clients. Amanda works full time and is married, with two very young children. She unknowingly offered some great advice while sharing a work related issue.   A committee she is on, requires everyone to pitch ideas and have them presented by just one person.  One of her coworkers is afraid Amanda won’t get credit for her individual input.  My client was surprised by this idea.  Amanda  shared that she doesn’t have the time or energy to worry about what people may or may not do.

She nailed it!  None of us has the time or energy to worry about what may or may not happen! That is a very valuable piece of a wellness model. Speaking of a wellness model, we should each have one. The first step requires asking yourself what does personal wellness looks like to you.  Give this some thought. Do you see yourself living a life free of doctors? Do you see yourself taking medicine. Do you see yourself having time for alternative therapies? What  colors, smells, textures bring calm to you.  Do you want animals in your life? What food do you eat. What people are in your life of wellness? Do you want naps and unscheduled time?  Do you need the city or the quiet? Where do you live?  Do you want to travel?  What are your spiritual practices? Where do you feel best?  What inspires you? Answering these questions can provide you a blue print for your wellness model.

7 Everyday Yoga Habits To Implement Off The Mat

Most people associate yoga with an asana practice, but yoga isn't just about flowing through a series of poses, twisting yourself up like a pretzel, going upside down and sweating your butt off (although that part can be super fun and highly beneficial both physically and mentally in its own right). What I have come to learn is yoga is most importantly about how you live your life in all contexts.

The word ‘yoga’ signifies any form of connection and that when applied to the human experience, can be used to celebrate the union between the mind, body & spirit. At its most practical level, yoga is a process of becoming more aware of who we really are. As such, yoga is a process of self-discovery. Through its practices, we can still the mind and merge into oneness with the divine; to act with truth and authenticity. We are able to discern who we really are and what our purpose is. Hooked yet?

9 Ways to Stay Positive, Even When You're Sick!

Your body is precious. It is our vehicle for awakening.Treat it with care. ~ Buddha

Some common advice? When you wake up feeling oh so crapola, don’t fall back on old habits. Try some of these reminders to eat, treat and sleep your way back to good health.

When we are at our weakest, we must be our most vigilant. When we are ill it is so easy to lose our bearings. We push ourselves beyond the breaking point ignoring all the self-care habits that are critical toward living our most authentic lives.

Being ill drains us physically, mentally, and spiritually. It’s at these low points that we tend to fall backwards on much of the progress we are making as we move into our most authentic lives. We say to ourselves that our new habits can be left by the wayside while we try and mend, and then we don’t go back to them. Or we find that balancing healthy, self-nurturing behaviors with a compromised body is simply too overwhelming.

Healing Remembers Wholeness

Separate self syndrome

All of us are waves in the same ocean, different experiences on the same journey. Separate self syndrome is a common condition that leads to disease and suffering. It is caused by the belief you are an independent self separated from the world, at the mercy of vast uncontrollable forces. This sense of a separate self gets deeply ingrained in habitual patterns that take up all your attention and energy. You become scared of death, consumed with desire. Your separate self strikes out against the "other" it believes is trying to destroy it. It fills itself up with things promising to satisfy and sustain you, wearing you down into crisis and disease, always searching for answers.

Is Your Home Making You Unwell?

Our homes are supposed to be a safe haven where we can rest and renew to face an outside world of dangers and stress. However, unfortunately, there are hazards in our homes that you may not even see that can be making you feel unwell.

In the Bathroom

Bathrooms are generally small spaces that are filled with heat and humidity which can promote the growth of mould, human body soil and waste, and chemicals from personal care and cleaning products. Health hazards may lurk on nearly every surface and in the air.

The biggest health dangers come from:

  • Improper cleaning and hand washing that leaves bacteria like E.coli and viruses on surfaces.
  • Cross-contamination from shared use of towels and bathmats that can spread bacteria and fungi like Athlete's Foot.
  • The use of harsh cleaning chemicals, spray air fresheners, and limiting fresh air.
  • Poor water quality

8 Nutrients and 16 Foods to Boost Your Mood — What to Eat to Increase Happiness

As it turns out, what you eat can have a massive impact on your mood. Making a few simple changes to your diet can make a difference for your mental health. Discover the stunning power of mood-boosting foods and nutrients.

Can you remember a time when you weren’t in a good mood?

At a Food Revolution Network retreat, I asked team members to say three words about how they were feeling. When it was my turn, one of the words I used was sad.

Looking at me, you would have never known that’s how I felt. On the outside, I looked happy — I was even laughing not long before we started the exercise. But how I looked was a far cry from what was going on in my heart and in my mind.

Can You Boost Your Mood Naturally?

The truth is, we’ve all felt sad or even “down in the dumps.” And sometimes, no matter how hard you try, it’s hard to turn that frown upside down.

If you ever feel down, or lonely, you’re hardly alone. We live in a world where depression is at an all-time high. Worldwide, depression affects 322 million people.

Welcome Faces

What do their faces say to you?

The Practice:
Welcome faces.

Why?

As our ancestors evolved over millions of years in small bands, continually interacting and working with each other, it was vitally important to communicate in hundreds of ways each day. They shared information about external "carrots" and "sticks," and about their internal experience (e.g., intentions, sexual interest, inclination toward aggression) through gestures, vocalizations - and facial expressions. Much as we developed uniquely complex language, we also evolved the most expressive face in the entire animal kingdom.

Intuitive Self-Care: A List Of My Favorite Steps For Cultivating Self-Care And Wellness

Many of us are juggling so many responsibilities and challenges in life that our own health and self-care ends up on the back burner. From long workdays and endless obligations to putting others’ needs before our own and ignoring our inner voice and intuition, we’re like robotic race cars racing around on the verge of running out of electricity. (Mind you, our cars are at least environmentally friendly.) We don’t want to pull over to allow our engines to recharge because we might get behind in the race. Yet, if we stop to think about it, we aren’t quite sure what the race is ultimately for in the first place!

I’ve had so much going on lately it’s got me thinking about self-care and healing. Many of us are struggling with something these days—whether exhaustion, illness, allergies, pain, depression, anxiety, or a cold that doesn’t want to go away. Beyond those more obvious symptoms, so many of us just feel stressed and out of balance.

One Simple Solution! One Step

Wouldn't be nice to not just react and place yourself outside the situation? Especially during stressful situations.

New research (cited here & below) reveals that in times of stress, talking to our selves in the third-person helps control emotions and enables our conductor-mind to manifest harmony (i.e., health) within our organ “orchestra” .

For example, say Bruce is stressed-out and is emotionally reactive when addressing himself in the first person: “Why am I distressed?” Bruce has a completely different response when he expresses his feelings in the third-person: “Why is Bruce distressed?”

How Words Color Our lives

''Why am I so unhappy,'' ''Everybody seems to think that I should be a joyous creature as I seem to have every material comfort, yet I feel completely listless and burdened with stress.'' These are statements I get to hear very often from my clients, friends, relatives and a lot more people.

We need to understand that the human spirit thrives on praise. Self-worth is a revered concept. It is only stimulated in us if we are in an adequately comfortable space within ourselves.

WORDS COLOR OUR LIVES

We can never underestimate the power of words. Our whole lives revolve around language. If a person is constantly criticized it erodes his self-esteem. Children are particularly sensitive to this. They tend to believe whatever their parents or teachers tell them. Negative statements erode their self-esteem. They develop a compromised self-esteem if criticized constantly.

Small Changes for Big Gains in Spiritual Well-Being

If you’re mentally or physically exhausted, it can be hard to feel that all is well with your soul. Most of us live very hectic lives that brings on stress, anxiety, and a constant state of busyness. However, it’s time to take back your physical and mental health. By introducing small changes into your life, you can look and feel better and have more energy for the day. Here’s how to get started.

Mindfulness

According to Mind Body Green, research has proven that mindfulness can help with stress, anxiety, and depression. It can also lower blood pressure, improve sleep, and boost immunity. What is mindfulness? Some people call it being “in the moment.” Take the time to be aware of what you are doing, those around you, and your surroundings as you focus on the task at hand -- whatever it is.

Update Your Bedroom

You spend 33 percent of your life sleeping, and that means plenty of time in your bedroom. This should be a place of peace and tranquility that minimizes stress and maximizes sleep. Here are ways to update your bedroom:

Learn to say no and create balance in your life

Most of us in today's hectic paced world are overscheduled, and frankly, most of us can't say "No". The simple act of not taking on more responsibility than you can handle, should not be a stressor, but it seems to be a major factor we add on to our bandwagon of stressors. we already seem to carry.

WHY CAN'T WE SAY NO

This is a difficult task for some of us. we think perhaps people concerned may get upset by our refusal, or maybe you are guilty when you are not helping others or maybe you actually accumulate so much stress, that eventually it makes you less healthy and less helpful.

INNER CONFLICT

This gets created because you don't know in which direction to swing. Sometimes we carry a misguided notion of " I can do it all" My suggestion to you would be '' Please get rid of this notion"

take on only as much as you can handle and feel comfortable with.

Is Feeling Cared About Important?

Take a moment to call to mind the sense of being cared about.

Who Has Cared About You?

The Practice:
Is Feeling Cared About Important.

Why?

Everyone knows what it’s like to care about someone. Remember being with a friend, a mate, a pet: you feel warmly connected, and want him or her not to suffer and to be happy.

On the other hand, you’ve probably had the sense, one time or another, of not being cared about. That you didn’t matter to another person, or to a group of people. Maybe they weren’t actively against you, but they sure weren’t for you.

Different Ways To Reduce Stress

Since stress seems to come from so many avenues, so does stress relief. There are so many ways to handle it. Most people believe in a certain particular and personal favorite strategy for stress relief, but in my opinion the most efficient way would be to create an overall effective plan that includes many different ways of reducing stress instead of a particular favorite and suitable plan that would deal with stress from one's own individual angle.

CLEAR THINKING STRATEGY

Bringing clarity to the mind is by far the most important way to eliminate stress. When the thinking is clear in our heads it is only then that we can take the most sensible and beneficial decisions for ourselves. So keeping the mind uncluttered and clear is our best bet in life.

REVERSE THE STRESS RESPONSE

If you are familiar with the concept of reversing the stress response you start thinking more clearly and you can actually avoid the negative effects of chronic stress.

Mastering stress is an art that can be learnt. Being a master craftsman at this art is what is your real key to leading a beautiful life. Being a mastercraftsman at this one is your key to leading a beautiful life.

Making Time for What You Value Most

This week was a good time to think about what you value in your life.

France’s President Emmanuel Macron delivered an impassioned speech to Congress this week about what he values and what he believes in. Hearing him speak got me thinking about my own beliefs and values.

“Our strongest beliefs are challenged by the rise of a yet unknown new world order,” Macron said. So true. There are so many forces these days that are testing our values and our beliefs — those we hold as individuals, and as nations.

That’s why I think it’s a good exercise for all of us to stop and think, “What do I believe?” “What do I value?”

Do you know what you believe in? Do you live your life according to those beliefs and values? None of us are perfect at walking our walk, but what I’ve found helpful is to stop and check in with one’s self and assess how one’s values and beliefs are lining up with one’s actual life.

For example…

Do you talk about saving the planet and then not recycle?

Do you talk about the importance of parenting and then look at your schedule and see that you are a workaholic?

Do you talk about women’s empowerment, but as a business leader, you refuse to provide paid family leave?

Are you a registered Democrat, but in your mind and heart you are more purple than blue and yet you’re afraid to register as an Independent? Or vice versa?

Do you talk about brain health and then not follow what doctors tell you? (My daughter told me to add this because I need to do a better job at what I’m telling others to do, like managing stress and eating less sugar.)

Welcoming Change

As I write this I’m flying home to Alaska. I had a fun weekend with our middle child. She happily committed to her future college, a life changing event. This weekend I connected with two people experiencing unplanned health issues, also a life changing event. My mind keeps returning to life altering events. We all have them. Some are happy, a birth of a child, marriage and job success. Some are not so happy, health scares, loss of loved ones and divorce. What they all have in common, good or bad, is the potential for positive life changes. It got me thinking. Why is it that we allow ourselves to struggle? This is in reference to the events that aren’t so happy. Often we don’t see any other choices in our life, until the Universe gives us reason to pause. What if we decided to pause where it feels really good? We could do that. We could design our life around feel good moments.

Think about all the times that you feel wonderful. Maybe you’re on vacation and you feel free and healthy. You are practicing wellness habits, eating healthy, meditating, enjoying your family and friends. It is so easy to think these habits are related to time allowance. Living a happy life has nothing to do with time, or lack of time. A happy life requires each individual to look at how they want to fill up each moment. Who and what are you inviting into your happy life? A happy life is not dependent on the amount of money in your life. There is a young man that I have been lucky to spend time with. He delivers groceries for a living. Each time he delivers our groceries, I am happy to see him. When we hug good bye, his energy fills me up. He has that special gift, so many people are seeking. He is genuinely happy.

What would your life look like if you designed it for your optimal health and happiness? What might your mantra be?
I AM HEALED I AM LOVED I AM HAPPY

I personally have experienced life changes so sudden, I had no time to think. It is in those sudden changes that God speaks loudly. The first time this happened was when I came across a violent crime scene. I feared for my life, as well as others’ lives. It was the first time I channeled a message of love and healing. I didn’t recognize what was occurring. I have had life changes that are essentially a slow unraveling of life as I knew it. God still spoke to me, but I needed to stop and listen. This was when I experienced my health scare. I was offered the opportunity to recognize my connection to source. I was given the opportunity to create a life that allowed me to share peace with my family and others. This required letting go of some habits and even people that didn’t fit into the life I was building. I am still learning how I best receive the messages of God, and how I best share them. I feel blessed to have these experiences that helped me discover peace, awareness, love and happiness. When the Universe slows me down I answer with an open, happy heart.

CHANNELING

We come thru you and to you in all directions, all colors and all sounds. Yet just a small few will recognize the shift inside that creates a place for inspiration to land and bloom.. At all times you are surrounded by energy so pure and true, you only need to remember your true essence to allow it to take you away.. Is the fear of losing what you believe is truth; larger than the memory of eternal peace? It is inevitable that you also, (the essence that is enjoying the human form) you too, will fall into awareness.. You will experience the blending and churning of the beautiful energies that are always part of your story, always waiting to guide you back to Love.. Always waiting to remind you of your eternal wellness and connection to all.. There is an expanded version of you that rests with in your heart, mind and soul. This version of you will eventually want for more, want to experience the total of all that is. Returning to a state of only love and expressions of love.. there is no hate, fear or pain.. we reside in total harmony.. There is a part of you that rests with us.. You are dancing between the two worlds.. softly you will return to us as we have returned to you.. As you make your way home the sounds and colors don’t match your frequencies.. but soon the blending will take pace and you will experience all as one.. you will experience your human self, with a slight shift of awareness, you will experience the pure essence of your- self with an awareness of energetic exchange.. we will guide you to many planes and many frequencies.. We will always be with you, We will always carry you gently with us. You are experiencing all this now.. End of Channel

In this channel there is reference to two worlds. I have written about this before. What it means is we have a world that has limitations and we have a world free of limitations; the choice is ours to make. I also want to clarify my statement on happiness not being dependent on money. The variable that connects happiness to money, is our relationship to money. I have been happy poor and I have been happy financially stable. I have also been unhappy and struggling financially and even unhappy financially stable. Living a happy abundant life is not always reflected by dollar amounts.

God Bless You and may you experience peace and happiness, Polly

Too much of anything is good for nothing

Some of us are overly sensitive. Mostly people will talk about themselves by saying, ‘I’m a very sensitive person’. But it is always in context to their own feelings.  They like to ignore the fact that they could be inflicting pain on every other person around, yet they carry this ‘injured’ air around them.

Special traits

Highly sensitive people emote on a very different level.  They have some special traits which are very different from the average person. It could also be considered as a positive thing but it has its drawbacks.

Highly sensitive

This is actually a trait which brings both strengths and challenges. Sometimes one is just easily offended by people who mean no harm or they could even be trying to be nice to you. Sometimes the reaction to everyday stressors is also extreme. You may be more affected by negative stressors than most people are.

Wild imagination

You like to believe that you are being bullied by people who mean no harm and then tend to become over emotionally aggressive. You are more deeply affected by others.  Try to manage your reactions, make it your strength rather than a challenge.

10 Simple Self Care Tips To Manage This Mercury Retrograde

(SPECIAL FOR EMPATHS AND HIGHLY SENSITIVE PEOPLE)

This week we are in the first week of the first Mercury retrograde cycle of 2018 which is a perfect time to retrace your steps and have a look at some of the ways in which you need to reaffirm your self-care. It’s also a great time to focus on ways to manage your experience especially if you identify as a highly sensitive person or empath. This particular retrograde in Aries is highly charged and can be quite combustible and combative. That said it’s also perfect for rigorous self-honesty, and really determining what you are enthusiastic about!

So, if you’re sensing the edge in the air and it starts to feel overwhelming you need to find a way to manage your experience. You don’t want to end up feeling like the energy of the world is assaulting you (and it really can feel like that sometimes.)

I’m going to include a video from Nick Ortner at the end of the blog to support you too since he has a great way to dial down anxiety. Bottom line is that intuitive people can suffer if they don’t have tools to manage their boundaries and feelings. (and they can also find it hard to release excess body weight, manage fatigue too etc. but that’s a whole other story)
